It is an important raw material used in the synthesis of functional silanes, silazanes, siloxanes, and silicon-containing polymers. It’s a flammable and corrosive liquid which reacts rapidly with water, therefore it must be kept in strictly sealed containers and avoid exposure to moister, water, and air.
