Short-chain Mercaptosilane, High Hydrolysis Activity, Preferred Interface Modifier for Coatings & Sealants ChangFu SH32α

ChangFu® SH32α (Mercaptomethyltrimethoxysilane, CAS: 30817-94-8) is a high-performance mercaptosilane coupling agent. Featuring a unique short-carbon-chain molecular structure, it delivers markedly higher hydrolysis rate and interfacial reactivity compared with conventional mercaptopropyl silanes. It rapidly forms chemical bonds between organic phases and inorganic substrates, serving as an excellent interface modification solution to boost adhesion and improve filler dispersion for coatings, sealants, rubber composites, precious metal surface pretreatment and other applications.

 

Unique Dual-functional Molecular Structure

Mercapto group: Outstanding reactivity to undergo addition reactions and efficiently crosslink with various organic polymer matrices including rubbers, epoxies and polyurethanes.

Trimethoxysilyl group: Faster hydrolysis rate, capable of condensing with hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic substrates such as silica and silicates to form stable covalent bonds.

High-performance Applications

l   Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants

Functions as coupling agent and adhesion promoter to improve bonding of coatings and adhesives onto inorganic substrates such as glass and silica, enhancing water resistance and anti-aging performance of finished products.

l   Inorganic Powder Modification / Advanced Composites

Surface modification for inorganic fillers including fumed/precipitated silica nanoparticles, lowering surface energy, strengthening bonding between fillers and polymers to manufacture lightweight high-performance composites.

l   Rubber & Tire Industry

Ideal for silica-reinforced systems. It optimizes silica dispersion in rubber matrices, improves mechanical strength and wear resistance of vulcanizates, and helps reduce rolling resistance.

l   Metal Surface Pretreatment

Forms a thin protective layer on metal surfaces to improve corrosion and oxidation resistance and significantly enhances bonding strength of polysulfide and polyurethane adhesives to metal substrates.

l   High-performance Hot Melt Adhesives

Added as adhesion promoter into hot melt adhesive formulations to improve adhesion of adhesive layers to inorganic substrates and stabilize bonding performance under high-temperature conditions.
