Polyamino-Functional Silane Coupling Agent | Robust Interface, Heat & Moisture Resistance, Broad Compatibility for Composites, Adhesives and Coatings ChangFu TN32

Insufficient interfacial adhesion between organic resins and inorganic fillers in composites, adhesives & sealants, coatings and mineral-filled polymer systems often results in low mechanical strength, deteriorated water and chemical resistance, and poor long-term reliability of finished parts. ChangFu® TN32 (3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyltrimethoxysilane, CAS: 35141-30-1) is a polyamino-functional trimethoxysilane coupling agent with dual reactivity. It forms chemical bonds with both inorganic substrates and organic polymers, serving as a coupling agent, adhesion promoter and inorganic filler surface modifier. It is suitable for composites, adhesives & sealants, coatings and mineral-filled polymer systems, delivering stable and reliable solutions for interfacial optimization.

Mechanism of Action

Trimethoxysilyl group (inorganic reactive terminal)

It hydrolyzes under moisture to generate silanol groups, which undergo condensation with hydroxyl groups on the surface of glass, fumed/precipitated silica, metal oxides, aluminum hydroxide and other mineral fillers to form stable siloxane covalent bonds and achieve chemical anchoring on inorganic substrates.

Diethylenetriamine side chain (organic reactive terminal)

It features high amine density and good reactivity. It can undergo addition and crosslinking reactions with epoxy, isocyanate, anhydride and other functional groups to integrate into the cured resin network. Meanwhile, it forms coordination complexes with metal ions to improve adhesion and corrosion compatibility on metal substrates.

Product Features

  • High reactivity of polyamino groups

The polyamino composite structure provides abundant reactive sites. It enables efficient crosslinking in thermoset systems such as epoxy, polyurethane, phenolic and polyimide, facilitating the formation of dense cured networks and improving mechanical strength, chemical resistance and long-term aging performance of finished products.

  • Improved adhesion strength and enhanced moisture & corrosion resistance

It strengthens interfacial bonding between organic and inorganic phases, endowing the system with superior heat-moisture and corrosion resistance, and stabilizing product performance under humid and corrosive service conditions.

  • Optimized interfacial wetting and reduced risk of interfacial failure

It improves the wetting of inorganic fillers, fibers and substrates by resin matrix, enhances interfacial bonding strength, and mitigates interfacial defects including delamination, debonding and water penetration to guarantee long-term service reliability.

  • Good thermal stability and broad formulation compatibility

It exhibits excellent thermal stability and adapts to conventional thermoset processing temperatures. It has good compatibility with epoxy, polyurethane, phenolic and acrylic resins with low migration and no obvious phase separation. Compatible with a wide range of inorganic fillers and fibers, it offers high flexibility for formulation development.

Application Fields

  • Thermoset resin composites

Suitable for high-performance thermoset systems including epoxy, polyurethane, phenolic and polyimide. Applied in electronic potting and encapsulation materials, high-voltage insulation components, carbon fiber / glass fiber reinforced composites.

  • Adhesives, sealants and industrial coatings

Used as an adhesion promoter in structural adhesives, epoxy adhesives, PU sealants, anti-corrosion coatings and metal primers, improving durable adhesion to carbon steel, aluminum, glass and mineral substrates.

  • Surface treatment of inorganic fibers

Applied in glass fiber sizing agents and mineral fiber modification formulations. It optimizes wetting between fibers and resin matrix, improves stress transfer efficiency and increases the impact and tensile strength of composites.

  • Modification of filled polymer systems

For surface modification of inorganic powders such as silica powder, aluminum hydroxide and calcium carbonate. Suitable for modified engineering plastics, flame-retardant plastics and rubber products. It improves powder dispersion, reduces system viscosity and enhances interfacial bonding between fillers and matrix.

  • Metal surface pretreatment and anti-corrosion systems

Used as an auxiliary for metal substrate passivation and primer coating. It improves the adhesion of silane film on metal surfaces and supports anti-corrosion coatings to achieve better salt spray and heat-moisture resistance.
