Amine Silane Coupling Agent: High Crosslinking & Heat-Moisture Resistance for Water-Resistant Organic-Inorganic Interfacial Anchoring and Metal Anti-Corrosion Modification ChangFu BEN32

ChangFu® BEN32 (Bis[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine; CAS: 68845-16-9) is an amine silane coupling agent. Its molecular structure contains two secondary amine functional groups and six hydrolyzable trimethoxysilyl groups. Compared with conventional monosilane coupling agents, it features a higher density of hydrolytic crosslinking sites. Upon hydrolysis, it forms a dense, stable hydrophobic crosslinked network at the organic-inorganic interface, effectively improving the water resistance and heat-moisture resistance of materials. Thanks to its outstanding interfacial anchoring performance, it serves as a high-performance interfacial modifier, adhesion promoter and chelating surface treatment agent for metal substrates.

Product Features

l  Highly reactive secondary amine groups for participation in resin curing and crosslinking

Secondary amines exhibit high reactivity and can form covalent bonds with epoxy and isocyanate groups. They take part in building the curing network of thermosetting systems such as epoxy and polyurethane, strengthening chemical bonding at the interface.

l  High crosslink density with excellent water and heat-moisture resistance

Multiple hydrolyzable methoxysilyl groups undergo hydrolysis and condensation to form a dense siloxane network. It provides superior water vapor barrier performance over ordinary monosilanes, delivering long-term enhancement of hydrophobicity, immersion resistance and hydrothermal aging resistance.

l  Superior interfacial coupling to improve compatibility between two phases

Acting as an organic-inorganic interfacial bridge, it reduces interfacial tension, improves the wettability and dispersibility of inorganic fillers in resin matrices, minimizes interfacial defects including voids and microcracks, and boosts bonding strength and mechanical properties.

l  Metal chelating film formation combining anti-corrosion and anchoring functions

Secondary amine groups coordinate and chelate with metal ions to generate a uniform protective film on steel and aluminum substrates, blocking corrosive media. Meanwhile, it builds a transitional interface to simultaneously improve the adhesion of coatings and adhesives to metal substrates.

Application Fields

l  Sealant and Adhesive Systems

It works as an efficient adhesion promoter for two-component polyurethane and epoxy adhesives & sealants. It reinforces interfacial bonding between adhesive layers and substrates, sustainably raises bonding strength, immersion resistance and outdoor weather stability, and mitigates interfacial delamination and failure under water exposure.

l  Functional Coating Systems

Added as a functional additive to vinyl, epoxy, polyurethane and other coating systems, it strengthens interfacial anchoring between coatings and metal/inorganic substrates, improving coating adhesion, salt spray resistance and water resistance.

l  Resin Modification

Applicable for modifying phenolic resin, epoxy resin, polypropylene and other resin systems. It improves the wetting of inorganic fillers by resin, reduces filler agglomeration, increases mechanical strength of finished products under both dry and wet conditions, and optimizes electrical insulation performance.

l  Surface Pretreatment of Metal Substrates

Suitable for passivation and primer treatment of carbon steel, aluminum alloy and other metals to prevent corrosion. It creates a transition layer between organic coatings and metal substrates for more reliable coating adhesion.

With its unique molecular architecture, ChangFu® BEN32 addresses common drawbacks of traditional silane coupling agents, including insufficient water resistance, weak interfacial bonding and limited anti-corrosion capacity. It is ideal for high-end formulations in sealing & bonding, premium coatings, composite modification and metal protection.
