High-Activity Vinyl Polysiloxane - Integrated Solution for Film Formation, Hydrophobicity, and Cross-Linking ChangFu® V34
ChangFu® V34 {Vinyltris(trimethylsiloxy)silane; CAS: 5356-84-3} is a functional polysiloxane containing vinyl functional groups. Its molecular structure combines polymerizable vinyl functional groups with trimethylsiloxy hydrophobic groups, endowing it with excellent reactivity, heat resistance, weather resistance, and hydrophobicity. It is an important intermediate in the fields of high-end silicone materials, electronic chemicals, and functional coatings. In daily chemical emulsion systems, this product, as a key functional additive, can also play an irreplaceable role in modification and film formation.
Chemical Mechanism:
The vinyl functional group at the molecular terminus of ChangFu® V34 serves as a highly efficient reactive site, readily participating in hydrosilylation addition reactions and free-radical polymerization processes. This reactivity enables V34 to copolymerize with hydrogen-containing silicones, acrylates, styrenics, and other organic monomers, forming durable, flexible polymer networks. When applied to surfaces like hair or skin, it polymerizes to form a continuous, breathable, and transparent elastic film that delivers long-lasting protection. The three bulky trimethylsiloxy groups provide exceptional steric stabilization and hydrophobic shielding, significantly lowering surface energy and imparting excellent water repellency, non-stick properties, and lubricity. This synergistic combination of film-forming capability and hydrophobic character creates a protective barrier that enhances water resistance, sweat resistance, and abrasion resistance while imparting a silky, non-greasy sensory profile.
Product Features:
- High reactivity of vinyl groups
The terminal vinyl group exhibits excellent unsaturated reactivity, allowing it to readily participate in a variety of chemical reactions, including free radical polymerization, hydrosilylation, and cross-linking curing. Under UV irradiation, heating, or initiator conditions, it can rapidly polymerize to form stable cross-linked networks, effectively improving curing efficiency, cross-linking density, and mechanical strength of the material system.
- Trimethylsiloxy protection
The three bulky trimethylsiloxy groups provide outstanding structural stability and surface performance. They endow the product with strong hydrolysis resistance even under humid or weakly acidic conditions, while delivering excellent hydrophobicity, low surface energy, excellent release properties, and good thermal stability. These features ensure long-term performance stability in harsh environments.
- Outstanding organic-inorganic compatibility
This product acts as an efficient interfacial modifier, significantly improving the compatibility and adhesion between organic matrices such as silicone resins, polysiloxanes, rubbers, and coatings, and inorganic fillers including silica, glass, minerals, and metal oxides. It effectively reduces phase separation, enhances filler dispersion, and strengthens the overall performance of composite materials.
- Low surface tension and excellent leveling properties
With its unique siloxane structure, the product can significantly reduce the surface tension of the formulation system. It greatly improves leveling, wettability, and anti-cratering performance in coatings and inks, helping to form uniform, smooth, and defect-free films on various substrates.
Product Applications:
1. Personal Care and Daily Chemicals
- Hair Care Applications: Reacts with hydrogen-containing silicone to prepare amino/polyether modified silicone oil, used in shampoos, hair masks, and styling products, providing smoothness, frizz control, and shine.
- Skincare and Makeup Applications: Used in formulations for skincare lotions, sunscreens, and cosmetics, significantly enhancing skin feel, film-forming properties, water resistance, and glossiness.
2. Synthesis of Organosilicon Materials
- Silicone Rubber Crosslinker/Intermediate: Used as a vinyl cross-linking monomer for addition-type silicone rubber, enhancing heat resistance, weather resistance, and shape retention; synthesizing side-chain modified silicone oil and organosilicon copolymers, imparting low surface energy, hydrophobicity, lubrication, and other characteristics.
- Silicone resin/polymer monomers: Copolymerized with methacrylate, styrene, acrylate, etc., to prepare silicone-modified acrylic resins and silicone polyesters, used for weather-resistant coatings, high-temperature insulation paints, and wear-resistant coatings.
3. Paints, Inks, and Surface Treatments
- Weather-resistant/Hydrophobic/Wear-resistant Coatings: As copolymer monomers for silicone-modified acrylic/polyurethane coatings, they enhance weather resistance, water resistance, stain resistance, and scratch resistance, used for building exteriors, automotive paint, industrial anti-corrosion, and plastic coatings.
- Surface modification of inorganic materials: Treating glass fiber, white carbon black, quartz powder, etc., to improve their dispersion, interfacial bonding, and composite material strength in silicone rubber, epoxy, and unsaturated polyester.
4. Lithium-ion battery (electrolyte additive)
Forming a stable, low-impedance, high and low-temperature resistant SEI film on the anode surface, inhibiting electrolyte decomposition, enhancing cycle life, and improving low-temperature charge and discharge performance as well as thermal stability.
ChangFu® V34, with its dual-effect structure of vinyl reactivity and trimethylsiloxy stability for hydrophobicity, achieves a "film-forming repair + silky skin feel + system stability" triple upgrade in daily chemical emulsions. At the same time, it demonstrates broad adaptability and high-performance advantages in the fields of silicone synthesis, functional coatings, and new energy. As a reactive and multifunctional silicone monomer, V34 is helping high-end daily chemicals, advanced materials, and new energy products achieve performance breakthroughs and quality upgrades.
